2025 U17/U15 AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
This year’s edition of the U15 and U17 National Championships once again highlighted the remarkable depth and consistency of the Sydney Academy across all weapons and age categories.
Our Epee, Foil, and Sabre squads delivered an impressive haul of 10 medals, further solidifying the Academy’s status as one of Australia’s top-ranked fencing clubs—and leaving our unmistakable blue-and-red imprint across the competition floor.
*Champions & Podium Highlights*
- *Zara Djamirze* defended her title in style, becoming the U17 Sabre National Champion for the second consecutive year🥇.🥇First place also for *Tiana Roberts*, who avenged in style the disappointment in the older category, in the U15s.
- *Alex Lette*, *Ryan Zhu* who delivered courageous performances narrowly missing gold in dramatic 14–15 finals, and *Victoria Zhu*, earning silver medals🥈🥈🥈in their respective category.
- Congratulations also to our bronze medalists🥉🥉🥉🥉🥉 in the U17 events: *Rianne Leung*, *Tanya Roberts*, *Max Hrovat*, *Leeoh Gim*, and *Tommaso Signorello*, all of whom fenced with skill and determination.
We also celebrate the outstanding efforts of our many other Academy fencers who reached the top 8, including _Amber, Xavier, Chelsea, Poli, Raf, Claire and Vicky_—a testament to the club’s depth and competitive spirit.
🇵🇭 2025 South East Asian Academy Tour🇹🇭
The Southeast Asia tour for our young Academy fencers—led by *Coach Sam Mooney Grand*—kicked off in style in Manila and carried on nicely in Bangkok bringing home 4 medals and heaps of good performances.
*Philippines 🇵🇭 Highlights*
The Quezon City Mall hosted an exciting two-day event filled with strong performances, valuable experience, and great camaraderie. Manila proved to be a fantastic opener, producing both medals and smiles.
Special congratulations go to *Rosalie Leung* 🥈 and *Kei Maven*🥉 for their well-earned podium finishes in the U10 category. Not stopping there, both Rosalie and Kei took on the challenge of fencing in an older age group—finishing 7th and 14th respectively. A remarkable display of talent and grit.
We also commend the strong efforts of our other fencers:

Thailand 🇹🇭 highlights
*Rosalie Leung* once again showcased her consistency and determination by claiming silver in the U10 category—adding to her previous podium finish in Manila. In the U14s, *Kingston Hsieh* delivered a stellar performance, building on last year’s result and this time advancing all the way to the grand final to secure the silver medal.
Bangkok proved to be a strong confirmation of the excellent form the team displayed earlier in the Philippines🇵🇭 . Athletes Ethan, Chris, Newton, and Kei all gained valuable competitive experience, contributing to the team’s momentum and camaraderie.
The Academy returns home from this year’s tour not only with well-earned medals but, more importantly, with a wealth of experience that will shape their future progress. Given the success and growth seen throughout the journey, *the Sydney Academy is proud to announce it will return to both Manila and Bangkok in 2026*.
